This revered monastery stands as one of Bhutan's most famous, clinging to the side of a cliff 900 meters above the Paro valley floor. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche, riding on the back of a tigress, arrived here and meditated, earning

the moniker 'Tiger's Nest.' Recognized as a profoundly sacred site, it was visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1646 and remains a pilgrimage for all Bhutanese. Though a fire in 1998 severely damaged the main structure, the Bhutanese jewel has been meticulously restored to its original splendor, inviting visitors to witness its spiritual grandeur. Later visit Drukgyel Dzong: A ruined fortress, 2-3 kilometers from the Taksang base parking area. Later pause to explore the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang.
